Maria began fundraising for the Breast Cancer Units at St Margaret's Hospital, Epping and Princess Alexandra Hospital, Harlow when she herself was diagnosed with the disease. Her goal was that all women with breast cancer should have access to the latest treatments available.
Thanks to her efforts both hospitals are involved in major ground-breaking clinical trials, in search of the 'wonder drugs' that will help cure breast cancer. Over 160 patients have been entered into these trials over the last four years.
Unfortunately, Maria lost her battle against breast cancer but in her honour we continue the fight.
